Who you are buying from

These pages are operated by Sparrius Media, trading as Poker Club, based in the Netherlands. When you buy The Art of the Read or any companion product, your contract for the goods is with us.

Your purchase is processed by Gumroad, which acts as the merchant of record. Gumroad handles the payment, charges and remits any sales tax or VAT due in your country, and delivers your files; its own terms govern the transaction itself. We are the publisher of the content, and these terms cover the product you receive, what you may do with it, and the guarantee below.

What you are buying

A digital product, delivered as a download. Nothing physical ships. Depending on the edition you choose you receive:

• Reader’s Edition — The Art of the Read in PDF and EPUB, plus free access to future revised editions of Volume I.
• Player’s Edition — the above, plus The Read Journal (PDF).
• The Study Kit — the above, plus The Read Test and The Opponent File (PDF).

Delivery

Your files are available immediately after payment, by download link and by email to the address you give at checkout. If nothing arrives within an hour, check your spam folder and then email us — delivery problems are our problem to fix and we would much rather hear about it than have you assume the worst.

What you may and may not do with the files

You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use what you buy. In plain terms:

• You may read the files on as many of your own devices as you like, and print them for your own use. Print as many copies of the journal, file and log pages as you need — they were designed to be printed.
• You may not resell, republish, share, upload or distribute the files, in whole or in part, or use them to create a competing product.

We are a small operation and there is no copy protection on these files. That is a deliberate choice: DRM punishes honest readers and stops nobody else. We are relying on you.

What this book does and does not claim

Everything we publish is educational commentary on the game of poker. It teaches how to read behaviour at a poker table.

• It is not gambling advice, and it is not a system for winning money.
• We make no promise about your results. Poker involves luck, variance and better players than all of us. As the book itself puts it: tells decide close calls, not careers.
• Nothing here is financial advice, and no part of it should be treated as a reason to risk money you cannot afford to lose.
• We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any player, tour, broadcaster or venue discussed. All are referenced as subjects of commentary. The book reproduces no broadcast footage; the Watchlist points to official sources.

Availability, pricing and changes

Launch pricing ends on the date shown on the sales page, and on that date the prices go up. We may change prices at any time for future purchases; the price you paid is the price you paid.

We may revise the books. Revised editions of Volume I are free to everyone who bought Volume I. We may also update these terms — if we do, the date at the top changes, and the version in force when you bought is the one that governs your purchase.

Liability

We provide these products with reasonable care, but they come without warranties beyond those you have by law. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — and nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Law

These terms are governed by Dutch law. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your own country, and you may bring proceedings in your own courts.

EU consumers can also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform. We would genuinely rather you just emailed us first — see the refund policy, which is deliberately more generous than the law requires.
